Barack Obama wasn’t the only one who went to Roseburg, Oregon on Friday. (Well, Obama and his massive, heavily armed motorcade posse. We know that posse well, here in SoCal. It seems like it gets the freeways blocked off for hours every other month now.)
Barbwire’s Tami Jackson, an Oregonian herself who lived in Roseburg as a child, went to Roseburg too, to stand with the local citizens and fellow demonstrators for Second Amendment rights.
Although she has a concealed carry license, Tami made sure to open carry her “IWB JM Custom Kydex holster and Glock™ 19 Gen 3” sidearm. She was among many in that regard.
Will this presidential election be the most important in American history?
Obama supporters, says Tami, were in short supply. The overwhelming message of Roseburg to Obama? “Go home.” Highlights of the day included a strong Second Amendment theme among the demonstrators:
And the Second Amendment message was equally loud and clear: it is our God-given, constitutionally-protected right. No occupier of the White House can strip us of our inalienable rights!
Ralliers were united in support of Sheriff John Hanlin, who made it clear in so many words this week that he “would not enforce tighter Obama gun laws.” But local support went beyond that, to a powerful affirmation of community support for law enforcement — and vice versa.
Another recurrent theme of the signs and the sign-bearers was whole-hearted support for Second Amendment Champion, Sheriff John Hanlin. Further, I heard hundreds of folks thanking the police and state troopers who were present. Those police and troopers responded in kind, most of them thanking US for being there and standing up to the Administration and for our Second Amendment rights.
In fact, one state trooper stopped me and thanked ME for carrying! He mentioned that it sent a terrific message to other women and citizens concerning the right to bear arms.
Unfortunately — if unsurprisingly — Tami’s interview with KATU 2 of Portland was edited selectively to feature only a short sentence on “gun violence.” She includes the entire transcript in her report.
Exit observation: Obama’s motorcade was armed to fight off an Iranian-backed guerrilla force.
Oh…one final note: in the President’s motorcade, trailing the presidential limo by a couple cars, was an SUV with the hatch wide open and a Special Forces Troop manning a Minigun. Yes a Minigun. As if Roseburg was Palestine or Somalia.
Read, as they say, the whole thing — and get a load of the America you never see reflected in MSM coverage. That America — the one that doesn’t travel in armored motorcades, and is honored to sustain and defend itself — is still out there.
